We were excited represent our “9/11 Honor and Serve Foundation” by being part of Bigfork’s annual celebration of our nation’s independence on July 4th. This parade, year after year is proclaimed the best parade in the Flathead Valley and was recently added to the list of towns “Best Small-Town 4th of July Parade in America” and for good reason! having the Horses, clowns, fire trucks and floats of all designs stream down Grand and Electric Avenues cheered on by huge crowds of spectators all along the way.
The theme of the 2019 4th of July Parade was “American Heroes.”
Organized by the Bigfork Area Chamber of Commerce under the guidance of its Executive Director Rebekah King, the theme for this years Parade was “American Heroes”. Chamber Member and longtime Honor and Serve Foundation supporter Cathy Evans, talked about our Foundation at one of the Chamber meetings and not only were we invited to participate, we were asked to be the lead float in the Parade!
As if that were not enough, Doug went above and beyond. He was able through the many friends he’s made from his nonstop support of military organizations, to have the Montana Air National Guard do a fly-over along the parade route with a C-130!! The crowd was amazed and delighted to see this massive aircraft fly low over the town of Bigfork to get the parade started!
Our float was well received not only for how patriotic it looked, but for the message we delivered and that was “Never Forget”. It was truly an honor to be a part of the parade and to help promote its theme of remembering our American Hero’s.
We are excited to partner with “Plan Bee” this year, to raise money and awareness to support Veterans with PTSD. organization at the after ceremony social. Hope to see you there!!!
Our foundation’s informational booth was set up at the end of the parade route. We reminded folks of our upcoming 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, will be held on 9/11/19, 5:30pm. Chuck Lewis, had an adjoining booth to introduce people to his organization “Plan Bee”. They were a hit with those who stopped by as he had a live “Bee Box” for everyone to view.
