2018 9/11 HONOR
& SERVE EVENT

2018 marked our 5th annual “9/11 Honor and Serve Foundation” ceremony. Our theme was a “First Responder Recognition”, honoring the First Responders of Bigfork and surrounding communities in the Flathead Valley, bringing community awareness of the people (often volunteer) and the services they provide. The event was held on Labor Day, September 3rd, along with multiple wildfires burning throughout the state of Montana, we had a good crowd of people come out and show their support for those who serve them every day during emergencies. There were representatives from Fire Departments, EMS, Law Enforcement, K-9 Rescue Dogs and an added treat, Two Bear Air flew in and landed one of their elite Rescue Helicopters. Almost on que, Two Bears Air received a 9/11 call during the ceremony. We all turned our attention to the crew as the suited up and took off to help someone in need that day.

 

As part of our ceremony we took time to honor the life of Trenton Johnson, a 19-year-old Firefighter killed in the line of duty while fighting a fire outside Seely Lake Montana. Trevor’s Father and Sister were in attendance and were presented with an American Flag in his honor.

Trenton’s Father, Marty and Sister, DJ joined us as we honor Trenton’s sacrifice through serving.

Afterwards we hosted the community to a “Gourmet Burger BBQ” drinks and a special “Q&A” session with the public and our First Responders. A microphone was passed and guests were able to ask questions of the First Responders (some of which were pretty funny) and get firsthand accounts of what it takes to do the job. We were proud to honor these men and women who serve so selflessly and grateful to the community for their support.
